The formal studies of Abstraction capture the periphery of the art world’s center stage, the famous artists exhibited in the famous museums and galleries of New York City. Initiated by a Chelsea gallery guard’s admonition to take no photographs, my attention turned towards the patinas, textures and random splatters found in the various surfaces composing and surrounding the exhibitions. This theme continued as I oriented myself to New York's art world, and the art milieu that was both enthralling and offputting. The titles refer to the artists or venues being visited when the photograph was made.
